Staff Award for Excellence in Student Success: Jayne McLoughlin

The Staff Award for Excellence in Student Success recognizes a staff member who promotes a student-centered environment. Jayne McLoughlin, Advisement Specialist for CU’s Elementary Education Program at Rogers State University in Claremore, was honored with the award. “Jayne is a constant advocate for our students on the CU/RSU campus,” wrote one nominator, citing McLoughlin as an active recruiter, advisor, mentor and more. Another nominator said of her, “She wears so many hats and does everything she can to ensure the students she assists do the very best they can both academically and in their future careers.” Yet another called her “absolutely amazing,” while another said, “She goes above and beyond…she’s an important piece for student success in our program.”

Staff Award for Excellence in Campus Stewardship: John Osborne

The Staff Award for Excellence in Campus Stewardship recognizes significant contributions to the campus community. John Osborne, Grounds Foreman, received the award. One nominator stated that Osborne’s “leadership touches countless areas of university operations on two campuses…He makes CU a better place by using an able crew and a finite set of resources to achieve results beyond the expected.” Osborne’s “new approach to some old problems,”  his ability to lead by example, and his ability to inspire those around him to do their best work led the nominator to refer to him a “truly a campus steward.” Another nominator cited how Osborne has transitioned Grounds to a more efficient department by re-allocating his workforce and equipment, as well as recognizing that Osborne brings “new ideas to how we do things.”

Staff Award for Excellence in Service: William Poole

The Staff Award for Excellence in Service recognizes exemplary contributions in the area of campus or community service. This year’s honoree is William Poole, Evening Circulation Supervisor, CU Library. One nominator cited Poole as a team player who is always ready to help other people, as well as a staff member who demonstrates expertise in his assigned duties. Another nominator – a library patron – wrote, “Bill can always be found easily and has always been more than willing to help me with anything or answer any of my questions.” The patron indicated that is one of the reasons they prefer to study at the library rather than at home. Another patron refers to Poole as “your best employee – keep him around!”
