Tickets are now on sale for Cameron University’s International Student Scholarship Banquet, slated for Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. in the CETES Conference Center. The event will benefit a scholarship fund for international students and will include a silent auction as well as buffet meal featuring international favorites. Tickets are $20 for the general public; $10 for CU students, and $5 for members of CU’s International Club. Tables of eight are available for $120. To purchase tickets, contact Dr. William Carney at firstname.lastname@example.org or 581-2928.
The silent auction will offer a variety of items donated by Cameron’s international students and members of the community. This year’s array will allow attendees to take home a memento of international culture.
The meal will get your taste buds hopping with a sampling of dishes from around the world, including Italian Pasta Salad; Ropa Viega, a Cuban favorite; Chicken Curry and a tasty dish made from cauliflower and potato from Nepal; Jollof Rice, a dish from Nigeria; and German Red Cabbage.
CU’s International Club is open to all students who want to experience international cultures. The club’s mission is to encourage and achieve greater appreciation of different cultures. Members of the club make presentations about their country’s heritage and culture throughout the academic year.
