Jonna Turner has been selected as Cameron University’s Director of Alumni Relations. She has been a member of the Cameron staff since 2006, most recently as Director of Events Management. She will step into her new role on August 12.
“Jonna Turner will be a great asset to Cameron University’s Office of Alumni Relations,” says Albert Johnson Jr., Vice President for University Advancement. “Her energetic outlook and firm understanding of our alumni will bring a fresh perspective to the activities and initiatives undertaken by Alumni Relations. This is an exciting time to have Jonna join the alumni team as we prepare for the upcoming fall semester and the 50-year celebration of the opening of the Shepler Towers.”
“The opportunity to find creative ways to engage with Cameron’s alumni is exciting,” Turner says. “I am proud to have the privilege of doing this work at my alma mater, and I hope to be able to offer meaningful experiences to CU’s growing alumni roster. I look forward to getting to know as many fellow Aggies as possible and to hearing their first-hand experiences on the ever-changing Cameron campus.”
As Director of Alumni Relations, Turner will work closely with the Cameron University Alumni Association and its board of directors with the goal of significantly increasing alumni membership and their involvement in the university. She will be responsible for strengthening communication, loyalty, and friendship among graduates, former and current students, faculty and staff, and other friends of Cameron University. Her work will support a mutually beneficial relationship between the university and its alumni and will include organizing and executing a comprehensive alumni program; engaging alumni in lifelong, progressive relationships with Cameron University; building an enthusiastic and active base of alumni involved in the university; and managing all of the university’s alumni-related programs, activities and events.
A graduate of Duncan High School, Turner earned a degree in Elementary Education from Cameron in 2006. She began her CU career as a student worker in the office of then-President Cindy Ross. Upon graduation, she joined the staff as Coordinator of Special Events and was promoted to Director of Conferencing Services, which is now known as Events Management, in 2011.
Turner resides in Lawton with her husband, Leo Turner, also a CU graduate, and their daughter, Elizabeth.
