The Cameron University Department of English and Foreign Languages continues the Visiting Writers Series with poet and creative nonfiction writer Candace Black on Friday, February 16, at 7 p.m. in the CETES Conference Center. The event is open to the public at no charge.
Black, who was born in Lawton while her father attended Artillery School at Fort Sill, teaches creative writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She is the author of three collections of poems: “The Volunteer,” “Casa Marina” and “Whereabouts.” The latter won the 2015 Violet Reed Haas Prize for poetry. Her creative nonfiction has appeared in several journals, including Pinyon, Great River Review, Superstition Review, Turnrow, and War, Literature & the Arts.
