The deadline for priority consideration for a Cameron University institutional scholarship is Monday, February 1. Cameron University has millions of dollars in scholarships and tuition waivers to award for the 2016-17 academic year, many of which are awarded to multiple recipients. Scholarships are available for new and current students, as well as transfer students. Students who wish to be considered for all institutional scholarships for which they are eligible must complete the General Scholarship Application found online at www.cameron.edu/financial_aid. Future students should complete the Application for Admission prior to applying for scholarships at www.cameron.edu/apply.
“Cameron is committed to making a quality college degree affordable,” says Jon Horinek, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success. “Each year, the university increases the amount of scholarship dollars and tuition-waivers available. We encourage all students who plan to pursue a degree during the 2016-17 academic year to complete the scholarship application.”
The General Scholarship Application is reviewed by departments and committees. Students will be notified if they are selected to receive a scholarship. Some institutional scholarships have additional application procedures. This includes the Presidential Leaders & University Scholars (PLUS), which requires a resume and essay. A complete listing of institutional scholarships, as well as criteria and application requirements for each scholarship, can be found on the website.
In addition to the General Scholarship Application, students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA application is used to apply for nearly all types of financial assistance including federal, state and institutional aid. The results of the application assist the financial aid office in determining how much and what type of aid may be awarded.
“Completing the FAFSA is easier than ever,” says Horinek. “The U.S. Department of Education has simplified the process considerably. In addition, the FAFSA priority deadline for residents of Oklahoma is March 1.”
The FAFSA application can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
