Cameron University business forum to host “Meet the Candidates: Election 2014”

Cameron University’s Bill W. Burgess, Jr. Business Research Center (BBRC) will host “Meet the Candidates: Election 2014,” a business forum presenting area candidates. The forum will take place on Thursday, September 25 at 1 p.m. in the CETES Conference Center and is open to the public at no charge.

“With the 2014 general election approaching, it is important for citizens to know the views of those who are seeking office,” says Dr. Syed Ahmed, Director, BBRC. “The upcoming business forum will provide candidates for seven offices the opportunity to present their individual platforms so that voters can be well-informed when they make their selections on Election Day.”

Comanche County Assessor                       

  • Grant Edwards (Republican), Gary Yackeyonny (Democrat)

County Treasurer

  • Rhonda Brantley (Democrat), Joe Wotring (Republican)

Comanche County Commissioner District 1

  • Gail Turner (Republican), Joe West (Democrat)

Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction

John Cox (Democrat)

District Judge, Fifth Judicial District, Office #1 (non-partisan election):

  • Emmit Tayloe, Jay Walker

District Judge, Fifth Judicial District, Office #2 (non-partisan election):

  • Josh Creekmore, Ken Graham

Associate District Judge (non-partisan election)

  • Scott Ray, Lisa Shaw

Another business forum will take place in October featuring additional candidates for state and national offices.
