Cameron University’s Thomas Labé to present “A Midsummer Night’s Concert”

Cameron University professor of music Thomas Labé will present “A Midsummer Night’s Concert” on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. The concert, which takes place on the summer solstice, will include music by Liszt, Chopin and others.  Unlike previous summer recitals which have taken place outdoors, this program will be held in the Cameron University Theatre. Admission is free.

“We decided to stay indoors this year because the Steinway piano in the University Theatre was completely rebuilt last summer,” says Labé. “It’s really a beautiful instrument now.”

The past year has been busy for Labé. In addition to teaching Cameron piano students, he has performed overseas on numerous occasions. In September, he played in Athens, Greece, for the first time. In December, he held a one-week residency at a high school in Taiwan. Over spring break, Labé traveled to Hyderabad, India, giving performances and conducting research into northern Hindustani Indian music.
