Cameron University’s Dr. Abbas Johari, Professor in the Department of Computing and Technology, was honored with two awards by the Association for Educational Communications & Technology (AECT) during the organization’s recent International Convention.
Johari received the Presidential Award in recognition of his excellent service to the Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D) Journal. He has served as editor of the International Review section of the journal for 10 years and is also a consulting editor for the Development section. Johari declined to accept another appointment as Editor/International Review but will now act as a consulting editor in that section. ETR&D is a refereed journal focusing entirely on research and development in educational technology and is the only scholarly journal in the field of educational technology.
In addition to the Presidential Award, Johari was honored with the International Division Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding service to the division.
Johari’s service to AECT includes election as the organization’s president-elect, president and past president, roles he held from 2007-2010. He was previously honored with the Presidential Award in 2011.
Johari joined the Cameron faculty in 1999. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Educational Technology) from Arizona State University, where he also earned a Master of Technology degree. He was a member of the Faculty Advisory Council of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education from 2011 to 2013.
