The Cameron University Foundation has established the Great Plains AMBUCS™ Endowed Scholarship in honor of President Cindy Ross, thanks to a $10,000 gift from the Great Plains AMBUCS™. The scholarship will be available in Fall 2014 to students who are pursuing a course of study leading to a degree, certification or licensure in occupational therapy or physical therapy.
“President Ross has been a leader and mentor in the Lawton/Fort Sill community as president of Cameron University,” says Jenny Shaw-Clement, President, Great Plains AMBUCS™. “By establishing this endowment in honor and recognition of President Ross' legacy, students will be able continue their education on the path to enabling the AMBUCS™ overall mission of assisting those who face mobility challenges.”
“The Great Plains AMBUCS™ is composed of a great group of individuals who make our community a better place to live through their volunteer activities,” says President Ross. “Establishing a scholarship to benefit Cameron students in perpetuity is yet another example of the lasting impact of AMBUCS™. I am particularly gratified and humbled that the AMBUCS™ chose to honor my time at Cameron University in this way.”
To be eligible for the Great Plains AMBUCS™ Endowed Scholarship in honor of President Cindy Ross, applicants must have declared an interest in pursuing a degree in occupational or physical therapy and show a commitment to a career field in therapy. The scholarship will be awarded to juniors who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4 point scale to retain the award. Once appointed, recipients may retain the scholarship for up to six successive semesters.
AMBUCS™ is a non-profit service organization consisting of a diverse group of men and women who are dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.
