Visiting Writer’s Series continues with Benjamin Myers

The Cameron University Department of English and Foreign Languages continues its Visiting Writer’s Series by welcoming poet Benjamin Myers to campus on Friday, March 8. Myers will read selections from his collections of poems  “Lapse Americana” and “Elegy for Trains” at 7 p.m. in the CETES Conference Center. The event is open to the public at no charge.

“Lapse Americana,” Myers’ forthcoming collection, will be released in mid-March. His collection, “Elegy for Trains,” won the 2011 Oklahoma Book Award for Poetry. In addition, his poems have appeared in “Tar River Poetry,” “Nimrod,” “Devil's Lake,” “Borderlands,” “Salamander”, “The New York Quarterly” and elsewhere. His reviews of contemporary poetry may be read in “World Literature Today,” Rattle e-reviews and other periodicals.

Myers earned a Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and is an associate professor at Oklahoma Baptist University, where he teaches poetry writing and literature.
