Cameron University Business Forum on city beautification to feature Mayor Fred L. Fitch

Cameron University’s Bill W. Burgess, Jr. Business Research Center will examine “What Makes a City Beautiful” during a business forum on Wednesday, April 10. The forum will address urban beautification, which is critical to strengthening the economic vitality of any community.  Appearance enhances a community’s sense of self, bonds its citizens with pride in their surroundings and is a key factor in attracting and retaining new industries. Mayor Fred L. Fitch of Lawton will present the keynote address. The event will take place at 10 a.m. in the CETES Conference Center and is open to the public at no charge.

Following his address, Mayor Fitch will be joined for a panel discussion by Mayor Gene Brown of Duncan;

Lawton City Council member Dr. Rosemary Bellino, who spearheaded the Lawton Beautiful initiative; Jay Burk, Chairman of the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority; and Bryan Long, Lawton City Manager.

“The beauty of a community is determined by more than an attractive landscape and well-maintained roads and buildings. Other aspects that impact the quality of life, such as low rates of crime and violence and a healthy environment that encourages wellness are important factors,” says Dr. Syed Ahmed, Professor of Business and Director of the Bill W. Burgess Jr. Business Research Center. “This business forum will address all of these issues.”
