Cameron University Department of Music presents free concert featuring Whang-Garesche-Ranheim Trio

Cameron University Professor of Music Dr. Hyunsoon Whang will be joined by guest artists Jeanine York-Garesche and Bjorn Ranheim for “Three B’s and More,” a chamber music concert. The event takes place on Monday, January 24 in the Cameron University Theatre at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public at no charge. “Three B’s and More,” featuring Whang on piano, York-Garesche on clarinet and Ranheim on cello, is presented by the Cameron University Department of Music and the Cameron University Lectures and Concerts of trio

The program features something for everyone and will open with a Beethoven trio. Ranheim will then perform one of J.S. Bach’s suites for solo cello. After an intermission, Whang will perform an intermezzo by Brahms, followed by York-Garesche's “Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet” by Stravinsky. Brahms’ “A Minor Trio” will round out the program.

Jeanine York-Garesche is much sought after as a soloist and a chamber musician. She also is a dedicated  orchestral musician and a pedagogue. York-Garesche is the principle clarinetist of the St. Louis Opera Theatre and teaches at the Webster University and the University of Missouri in St. Louis. 

Bjorn Ranheim is a member of the celebrated St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and also holds the principal chair of the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, Colo. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, he has appeared as a soloist with the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra and has toured extensively as a chamber musician.

Hyunsoon Whang holds the McMahon Endowed Chair in Music and has played more than 500 concerts throughout North America, Canada, Europe and Asia. In November 2010, she received the Governor’s Arts Award in Arts and Education from Governor Brad Henry.
