Cameron University Athletics receives donation from The Walton Family Foundation

Cameron University Athletics has received a $10,000 donation from The Walton Family Foundation of Bentonville, Ark. The gift will be used to assist with the construction of a Team Film Room in Aggie Gym, where coaches and student-athletes can meet and review game footage to help prepare for upcoming contests.

“The Walton Family Foundation recognizes the value of community partnerships,” says Cameron President Cindy Ross. “We are deeply appreciative of the foundation’s continued support of Cameron University, which plays a significant role in Cameron’s stature as the University of Choice for Southwest Oklahoma and beyond.“

“This gift will benefit our student-athletes as they represent Cameron University in various competitive arenas,” says Jim Jackson, Cameron Director of Athletics. “Cameron’s athletic teams are comprised of students who consistently demonstrate the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork and academic success. Thanks to the Walton Family Foundation, we can offer those student-athletes an additional resource to help them achieve their individual and team goals.”

Gifts from The Walton Family Foundation have benefited numerous Cameron initiatives. The foundation most recently contributed $25,000 toward construction of the Academic Commons. Other previous gifts include $10,000 to Cameron’s unprecedented Changing Lives campaign and $5,000 for campus beautification. The Walton Family Foundation was also the sole benefactor for the renovation of the Student Activities Building, now the Cameron Exchange, in 2004.
