Altus High School Varsity Chorale to join Cameron Concert Choir, Centennial Singers in concert

The Altus High School Varsity Chorale will join the Cameron University Concert Choir and Cameron University Centennial Singers in concert on Tuesday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cameron University Theatre. The performance will feature a wide variety of choral literature. A reception hosted by the Southwest Oklahoma Opera Guild will follow. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Cameron University faculty, staff and students being admitted free.

The Cameron University Concert Choir is conducted by Dr. Earl Logan, Associate Professor of Music, and will be accompanied on piano by Yiuka Chan Spannagel. Doris Lambert, Adjunct Instructor, conducts the Cameron Centennial Singers. They will be accompanied on piano by Kristina Henckel. The Altus High School Varsity Chorale is conducted by Patti Ray.

The Cameron  University Concert Choir will be singing famous opera choruses including "Overture to the Barber of Seville" by Rossini, "Si, puo, Si po" from "I Paglicacci" by Leoncavallo featuring senior Jonathan Phelps, "Dido's Lament and final chorus" from "Dido and Aeneas" by Henry Purcell featuring Jordan Brickhouse, mezzo-soprano, "Apriete, presto aprite" from the "Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart, "Regina coeli" from Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni, "Stride la vampa" and "Vedil le forsche" from "Il Trovatore" by Verdi featuring Melissa Delgado, mezzo-soprano, "Va, Piensero" from Nabucco by Verdi, "V'ho ingannato" from "Rigoletto" by Verdi, and "Brindisi" from "La Traviata" by Verdi.

The Cameron University Centennial Singers will perform Rogers and Hammerstein’s “It’s a Grand Night for Singing,” Doris Lambert’s arrangement of “Amazing Grace,” Dominick Argento’s spiritual entitled “So I’ll Sing with My Voice” featuring Sabrina Harrell, Paul Langford’s arrangement of “When Sunny Gets Blue,” Larry Shackley’s arrangement of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” featuring Jonathan Phelps, Steve Zegree’s arrangement of “I Wish You Love” featuring Anjelika Ramsdell, and “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” by Irving Berlin and arranged by Kirby Shaw.
