Cameron University professor elected as chair of state advisory board

Cameron University faculty member Dr. Joanni Sailor has been elected Chair of the Oklahoma Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) State Advisory Board. Dr. Sailor is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Human Ecology. She was first appointed to the LMFT State Advisory Board in 2009 by the Commissioner of Health.

Dr. Sailor began teaching at Cameron as an adjunct faculty member in 1991 while operating a private practice specializing in marital and family therapy. She joined the faculty full time in Fall 2009.She has been a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist since 1991 and an approved LMFT Supervisor since 1994. Dr. Sailor holds certification in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy, Release Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Levels I and II.

The LMFT Advisory Board is responsible for advising in the administration of the provisions of the Marital and Family Therapist Licensure Act. The board also prescribes, adopts and promulgates rules to implement and enforce the provisions of the Act; sets license and examination fees as required by the Act; and adopts and establishes rules of professional conduct.
