Cameron Business Forum to examine tax issues with State Auditor Gary Jones

The Cameron University Business Forum will present State Auditor Gary Jones for “Taxes From The State Auditor’s Point of View” on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Buddy Green Room of the McMahon Centennial Complex. The Cameron Business Forum is presented by Cameron University’s Bill W. Burgess, Jr. Business Research Center and is open to the public at no charge.

Jones, a Cameron graduate who was elected as State Auditor in November 2010, says, “It’s easy to spend other people’s money. That’s why those of us who serve in government have a duty to make certain tax dollars are spent wisely in order to ensure the efficient delivery of services. We have an obligation to maximize tax resources and to turn a so-called ‘good deal’ into the ‘best deal’ for the citizens we represent. Safeguarding public assets is critical to creating a government that serves its citizens rather than shaping a society where citizens serve their government.”

Following Jones’ presentation, he will be joined for a panel discussion by Fred Rice, Revenue Officer, Internal Revenue Service; and Kimberley Furrh, CPA, Furrh & Associates, PC. Furrh is also a Cameron graduate.
