CU students receive scholarships from campus professional organization

Cameron Administrative Professionals (CAPs) recently awarded the Jo Ann Quaid Memorial Scholarship to four recipients for the Fall 2010 semester. The scholarship award is $200 each. Award recipients Jenifer R. Durham, Tina Jensen, and Cynthia A. Reynolds, all of Lawton, and Tammy Hornbeck, Temple, will each receive a $200 scholarship award. Eligibility for the Jo Ann Quaid Memorial Scholarship includes full-time employment at Cameron, membership in CAPs, and enrollment in a course used for a degree requirement or a course having specific job application. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher at the time of application.

Durham, department secretary for the History and Government Department, is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree. Hornbeck is a sophomore majoring in English and is the department secretary in the Office of Admissions. Jensen, program assistant in the Athletics Department, is a senior accounting major. Reynolds, a criminal justice major, is program assistant for KCCU Radio.

The scholarship is named in memory of Jo Ann Quaid, former CAPs member and accounting specialist in the CU Office of Business and Finance.

CAPs membership is comprised of administrative assistants, program assistants, and secretaries within Cameron University. The organization holds fundraising event each year to promote the professionalism and fellowship of CAPs members and to support local programs. Regular business meetings present continual developmental opportunities, and scholarships are provided to qualifying members as motivational incentives for education.
