Cameron University students garner awards at AITP Region 3 conference

Cameron University students attending the Region 3 Student Conference of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) were among more than 300 participants from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas who gathered in Houston for the annual event. Students Markita Nash, Mistystarr O. Miranda, both of Lawton, Delvis Simmonds of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Abhas Bhatt of Kathmandu, Nepal, brought home awards from the student competition portion of the conference.

Simmonds and Bhatt placed second in PC Troubleshooting, while Nash and Mirando earned third place honors in the Mobile App category.

Other Cameron students who attended were Sona Aryal, Kathmandu, Nepal; Phil Thompson, Charlestown, St. Kitts and Nevis; Pawan Subedi, Kathmandu, Nepal; Olusegun Thorpe, Ikeja, Nigeria; and Babajide Sofowora, Lagos, Nigeria.

Now in its 27th year, the Annual AITP Region 3 Student Conference is designed for students planning careers in information systems or related fields.  The conference supplements traditional IT education by offering attendees industry speakers who cover the latest industry trends and issues through educational sessions, student competitions, and networking opportunities with other IT students and professionals.
