CU @ SC celebrates “All Things Victorian”

Come celebrate the sights, sounds, and flavors of a real Victorian high tea when the Cameron University School of Liberal Arts hosts "All Things Victorian: Celebrating Victoriana with Antiques, Literature, and High Tea" at the Wildhorse Suite of the Simmons Center in Duncan on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 6 p.m. This evening of nostalgia, entertainment and goodies will be hosted by Dr. Vivian Thomlinson, Professor of English, an avid collector of all things Victorian. Admission is $10; CU students are admitted free with valid CU ID. Homeschooled students will be admitted for $5. Seating is limited and reservations are required. To RSVP, call 581-5506 or 583-2029 by December 2. "All Things Victorian" is part of the Cameron University at Simmons Center (CU@SC) series.

Dr. Thomlinson lived in England for many years and is presently restoring to its full Victorian splendor a Queen Anne Revival house (circa 1887) in the historic district of her hometown of Gainesville, Texas. Her discussion promises to be a lively sharing of Victorian architecture, literature, facts, and artifacts, along with some of the best culinary treasures of the time-honored British institution of high tea, including crumpets and scones.
