Cameron student takes top prize at OMTA piano competition

photo of Tristi ChanCameron University student Tristi Chan won the 2009 Oklahoma Music Teachers Association Collegiate Division Piano Competition, which took place last Saturday in Stillwater. Chan, a sophomore, faced competition from contestants representing universities across the state. She will perform at the Winner's Recital and receive a monetary prize at the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association State Conference in June 2010.

A native of Hong Kong, Chan is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and is a piano student of Dr. Hyunsoon Whang, professor of music and Louise D. McMahon Endowed Chair in Music. She is the recipient of a McMahon Scholarship, Aldine Cash Music Scholarship, William Fletcher Memorial Piano Award, and a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, the international music honor society.
