CU student, professor share Distinguished Research Award

Cameron University graduate student Jeremy Phelps, M.D., and Dr. Shawn Carraher, Professor of Management and Global Entrepreneurship, were named Distinguished Research Award winners at the Allied Academies Spring International Conference, held earlier this month in New Orleans. They received the award for their paper, "Barriers to Surgeon-Drive Innovation in Health Care," which will be published in the Academy of Health Care Management Journal. Currently pursuing his MBA at Cameron, Phelps is a resident physician at the University Of New Mexico Department Of Neurosurgery in Albuquerque, NM.

In addition to the Distinguished Research Award, Carraher received The Allied Academies Fellow Award in recognition of his support of the Allied Academies as a Referee, Editor and Ambassador-at-Large. Carraher joined the CU School of Business faculty in Fall 2004, when he was appointed the Virginia Brewczynski Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies

The Allied Academies, Inc. is a federation of 14 affiliate academies publishing a total of 17 different journals in various fields of business. The association is comprised of scholars whose purpose is to support and encourage research and the sharing and exchange of ideas, knowledge and insights throughout the world.
