PUBLICATIONS
As a scholar Thomas Labé is currently involved as editor-in-chief for a wide variety of critical new editions of the piano repertoire. His first publication in this capacity is a landmark new edition of Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54. This two piano score is the first to be based on personal examination of both the autograph manuscript (virtually inacessible until 1989 and now in the archive of the Heinrich-Heine-Institut, Düsseldorf, Germany) and the composer's personal copy of the first printed edition (in the possession of the Robert-Schumann-Haus, Zwickau, Germany). The two editions published under the editorship of Clara Schumann (the composer's wife) served as secondary sources. The edition also includes an extensive historical and analytical introduction (informed by a host of rare and unpublished sources), a Critical Commentary (detailing variances among the sources) and a completedly new reduction of the orchestral part for a second piano. The publication was released by Alfred Publishing Company in March 2003 and is available world wide.
