Comedy
is
the treatment of a subject in a humorous manner, but contains a message.
A good comedy will remind the audience of their own human foibles and allow them to learn from their past experiences.
Usually a character who deviates from reasonable values like sensibility,
flexibility, moderation, tolerance and social intelligence
but in the end good sense wins the day.

This is a photo from our production of Sylvia
by A.R. Gurney.
In it the character of Greg falls in love with his dog, Sylvia, who is
played by an actress.
By the end of the play, however, Greg returns to his wife.
The first writer of comedies in the
western world was Aristophanes (ca 446-ca 386 ca BC).
