Adaptations

Utilize other works to create a theatrical presentation.

Normally it is the creation by director, actors, and others.

In the case of a book you would concentrate on the essence of a 500 page novel.
Examples would include:  NICHOLAS NICKLEBY, LES MES, & THE GRAPES OF WRATH

Lately films have been adapted to the stage.
Examples include the following musicals:  "The Lion King",  "Little Shop of Horrors", and "Beauty and the Beast"

An Adaptation can be a Tragedy, Comedy, Tragicomedy, Farce, Dark Comedy, or Melodrama.
