Dr. Schroeder’s Bio
Dr. Schroeder was
born in Philadelphia PA, the son of a Naval Officer. As such he
lived in several places as a child including Michigan;
California; Okinawa,
Japan; Baltimore;
and Virginia.
Dr. Schroeder Attended high school in Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended
Virginia Tech where he received a bachelor’s degree in Soil Science
(Summa Cum Laude) in 1994. He remained at Virginia Tech to pursue a
master’s degree in Soil Science which he received in 1997.
Upon receiving his
M.S., Dr. Schroeder worked as an agent for the Virginia Cooperative Extension
Service in Rockingham County,
VA from 1997 to 1999. His work
involved educating area producers and residents on environmental issues
associated with water quality and nutrient management.
In 1999, Dr.
Schroeder returned to academia to pursue his Ph.D. at the University of Georgia.
There he studied soil physics and chemistry and received his Ph.D. in agronomy
in 2003. From Georgia, Dr
Schroeder moved to Ames, Iowa to serve as a post-doctorial researcher
with the USDA/ARS for one year.
Following his
post-doctorial appointment, Dr. Schroeder accepted a position as Assistant
Professor in the Agriculture Department at Cameron
University in Lawton, Oklahoma.
In 2009, Dr. Schroeder was promoted to Associate Professor and granted tenure
at Cameron University.
