
I
am a native of Canovanas, Puerto Rico. I am the son
of Fundador and Pilar and the youngest of 14
children. At the age of 20, I enlisted in the United
States Army, from which I retired in 1997 as
Sergeant First Class. I have four children, Grechan,
Suhail, Jessica, and Misael Omar. I have 7
grandchildren, Julio Cesar, David Earl, Arisdelis,
Anthony Giovann, Alisah Marie, Jasmin, and Elijah.
Immediately upon retirement, I started working on a
BA in Romance Languages at Cameron University,
Lawton, Oklahoma. I completed my BA in the Summer of
1999 and my Master of Arts in Teaching in December
of 2001. I am a proud member of the Phi Sigma Iota
Foreign Languages International Society.
As a soldier in the U. S. Army, I traveled to
Europe, South Korea, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. In the
United States I have lived in Texas, Kansas,
Tennessee, Louisiana, New York, Florida, Arkansas,
and Oklahoma. My awards and decorations include:
The Bronze Star Medal, The Meritorious Service
Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, The Army
Achievement Medal, The Liberation of Kuwait Medal,
The Defense of Saudi Arabia Medal, The Air Assault
Badge, and others.
I am a Graduate of the Department of Defense Equal
Opportunity Institute, The Primary Noncommissioned
Officer Course, and The Advanced Noncommissioned
Officer Course. I held positions as Cannon Crewman,
Chief of Section, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon
Sergeant, Equal Opportunity Adviser, and Brigade
Operations Noncommissioned Officer.
