Scholarships and Fellowships
 
 

Freshmen Honor Awards
Each year Cameron University offers scholarships to students who exhibited an academically outstanding freshmen year, usually defined as having a 4.0 GPA and attending full-time.

 
 

Lewis Ridgeway Scholarships
Each year Cameron University offers scholarships to Phi Kappa Phi students who exhibit outstanding qualities and will be returning to school the following fall semester.

 
  Applications- must be accompanied by the following   Qualifictions-  
 

A Copy of your transcript
A letter of Recommendation from a faculty member
A personal statement of your objectives

  Be a member of Phi Kappa Phi
Be scheduled for initiation into the chapter
Must plan to enroll as a student for the
 
 

Qualified applicants should receive an application form in the mail. If you feel that you qualify and did not receive an application, you may pick up an application from Benson Warren in the Art Department.

 
  Awards- five to six scholarships awarded   Deadlines- TBA (early or mid-February 2009)  
 

National Fellowships
Fellowships in support of first-year graduate or professional study, normally undertaken within a year following receipt of the baccalaureate degree, are awarded by the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

 
  The Awards-   Requirements-  
 

The number of Fellowships to be awarded annually is determined by the Board of Directors in accord with the funds available. Normally, 50 Fellowships are awarded each year. Awardees may accept Fellowships with the full $7,000 stipend, a reduced stipend - adjusted on the bases of other financial support, a $1,000 monetary award, or without stipend. In addition, normally 30 awards with stipends of $1,000 each are awarded as Honorable Mentions.

Cameron University may submit one fellowship nominee per year to the National Office. This nominee, even if not selected for a Fellowship, will receive Active-for-Life Membership in Phi Kappa Phi.

  Recipients must be active members of Phi Kappa Phi on the date the awards are made. Applications will be accepted from individuals selected for membership in the Spring but have not yet been initiated.

Applicants must have applied to enroll as a candidate for an advanced degree in a graduate or professional school, preferable in an American college or university. In general, preference will be given to candidates with a definite purpose of pursuing a doctorate or other advanced professional degree.

Interested individuals may pick up an application from Benson Warren in the Art Department. A completed application must include three letters of reference, all college transcripts, and result of graduate test (i.e. GRE) submitted in quintuplicate (original and four copies).
  Deadine- The chapter must submit its nomination to the National Office by March 1, 2009 and final selections of the Fellowships will be announced about April 1. Completed applications should be turned into Benson Warren Art Department.
