OurTrip to Canada

In December of 1996, Barry and I went to visit our friends, Rob and Jo Susan Blackaby in Calgary, Alberta Canada. The trip was very enjoyable and included visits to Banff and Lake Louise. As usual, pictures don't detail the beauty we encountered, but we want to share as much as we can!

White Christmas

These pictures are characteristic of our trip. Our experience was that the Canadians are proud of their country and display the maple leaf in many places (including the McDonald's arch!) The bottom picture was a rare sight for this time of year. Most of the streams, waterfalls and lakes were solidly frozen.

These pictures are taken at Lake Louise. If you look closely, you can see the hotel on the edge of the lake on which Rob and Barry are standing. The top picture is of a waterfall which was frozen.

While at Lake Louise, we took a sleigh ride. The horses were hot and tired after working to carry about 15-18 passengers. Karen fed them snow and they ate from her hand.

This is a picture of downtown Calgary. It may look familiar to you because it is where the first Superman movie was filmed. We particularly noticed how clean it was.

This guy came right up to the car (in which we stayed!!)

This picture was taken from on our hike through Johnson canyon, near Banff. The stream was completly frozen. The trees were so perfectly flocked for Christmas.

One of the many picturesque landscape views.

The drive to the mountains was breathtaking.

I included this picture to show that the trees were truly beautiful--I want a flocked tree next Christmas!
