For your final essay I would like you to address Pietra Rivoli's book The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global
Economy Your essay should be two pages in length,
typed and double-spaced. You should also use standard 1-inch margins
all around, and 12 pt. Times New Roman font. In addition, you must
document what you write with footnotes. For more on footnoting (a 25% reduction on your paper
will occur if you fail to document
your work properly)and some tips on writing
historical essays, see as before the general guidelines for writing
section of the course syllabus. And now....on to the topic .....
Evaluate the case for and the case against globalization by
examining the following perspectives that are described in Rivoli's
text: two U.S. perspectives (there are at least five here), two global
perspectives (there are at least three to choose from here).
Your essay should consist of the following sections:
1. An introduction in which you indicate the position whether you
will argue for or against globalization and briefly why.
2. A presentation and comparison of the advantages and disadvantages
of globalization to the U.S. groups whose perspectives you analyze.
3. A presentation and comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of globalization to the non-U.S. groups whose perspectives you analyze
4. A conclusion in which you explain in some detail your position
for or against globalization based on your findings in sections 2 and 3.
