Reaction Paper #4: The Cost of Living


For your final essay I would like you to address Arundhati Roy’s book The Cost of Living.  Your essay should be two pages in length, typed and double-spaced. You should also use standard 1-inch margins all around, and 12 pt. Times New Roman font. In addition, you must document what you write with footnotes. For more on footnoting (a 25% reduction on your paper will occur if you fail to document your work properly)and some tips on writing historical essays, see as before the general guidelines for writing section of the course syllabus. And now....on to the topic .....
 

Using as evidence web-based sources that you find (and which you must attach to your paper upon submitting it) argue for or against Arundhati Roy's perspective in her first essay, "The Greater Common Good."

Your essay should consist of the following sections:

1. An introduction in which you indicate the position for which you will argue and a brief indication as to why.

2. A presentation and comparison of Roy's evidence and your evidence.

3. An analysis of the evidence.

4. A conclusion as to the validity or lack of validity of Roy's argument in "The Greater Common Good."
