Source Analysis Piece 2
In this Source Analysis Piece you will
examining sources for bias and attempting to thread the needle as it
were by arriving at what you judge to be the most accurate version of
events based on a synthetic reading of several sources commenting on
the same event. Relying solely on the following pages of Allen
& Amt: 225-240 address yourself to how the sources answer the
following questions (as appropriate, i.e. if a source clearly does not
address a question, don't explore it with that question in mind): 1)
How was the decision to attack Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade
arrived at? 2) What happened during the attack on
Constantinople?
Having examined the sources along these lines write a short source
analysis piece in which you 1) discuss the influence of any biases in
the sources' attempts to answer these questions and 2) discuss what you
think actually happened. Your paper should be
2 typed,
doubled-spaced pages in length, written in Times Roman, 12-pt. font and
must be properly footnoted (see me before starting an assignment if any
of these standards are unclear). Once completed submit you paper
to the Paper Submission Portal of the course's Blackboard module.
To receive credit, the paper must be in by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday,
September 29th. Good luck!
