II. Text Interpretation (20 points): I will select a portion of text from one of the primary sources assigned for reading (including Four Texts on Socrates of course) from 9/14/2007 to 10/15/2007.  A suggestion for preparation: review all primary sources assigned for that period and be able to relate to a time period and a culture or place.

III. Using a Source as Evidence (15 points): I will ask you to write a paragraph in which you use the source above to make an analytical point about the society to which the source is connected. For example, if the source above was a section of Hammurabi's Code (which we examined in the previous unit on Egypt and Mesopotamia), then you might use selections from the source to argue that there was social and gender inequality in Babylonian society.  Remember to quote from the source to support your point.
