Recycle program

J.Powell said there are 5 to 6 parks that we could put recycling bins in. B.Hadley suggested there are businesses in the City that may be interested in recycle bins in their parking lots, especially since it would increase traffic for the business. J.Powell said he request for proposals are about done. R. Little said J’s Recycling has purchased 10 bins that are designed especially to recycle cardboard so that garbage can’t be placed in them and has sent letters to businesses in the City to see if they would be interested in putting them at their businesses. He will eventually order 60 bins to do plastics.

J. Powell will contact J’s Recycling

Median Projects

Water line at Ft Sill and Gore Blvd is a private line owned by Ron Nance and is actually a fire line and if the City gets permission to tap into it, it becomes the City’s. K. Jackson is going to offer median to Naturescape at 17 th and Gore. We need to check the availability of water to the median on Gore across from Liberty Bank (west of the staging area for the new sewer line).

No further action on Ft Sill and Gore since this is a private water line.

K.Jackson to offer the median at 17 th and Gore to Naturescape.

C.Dentler to check on availability of water to median on Gore across from Liberty Bank

Underpass at Quanah Parker

B.Hadley said that Monkey Business is still planning to do work on Underpass mural. We have not paid for it at present. B.Hadley said that Lawton High has a contest to do a mural on the fence across from the school. Paint in the tunnel of the underpass is peeling. C.Dentler said that it needs to be stripped. There are water problems. Who has jurisdiction i.e. City or State? It will require extensive resources to repair.

Wait on Monkey Business.

C. Dentler will check who has jurisdiction over the tunnel.

Littering Campaign/Trash-Off

Trash-Off is Sat. April 19 th, 2008 from 9AM to 2 PM. Fliers are out for people/ groups to sign up. R. Bellino spoke with A.Chiarrpa who will speak with the Police Dept. to explain that if someone they fine can’t pay the $750.00 fine they can give community service. “No Littering” contest should be in the newspaper soon. A. Griffith is getting out fliers for Trash-Off. We need to get as many groups involved as possible to select areas in the City to clean –up. There are prizes, free food.

A. Griffith will send fliers to neighborhood watch groups and Adopt A Street groups to participate in Trash-Off

Adopt A Street

R.Little said we should have T-Shirts for Adopt A Street. A. Griffith said we can get the T-Shirts for $4.50 to $5.00 at Stanton’s. A. Griffith said we can get 500 T-shirts for $2,500.00.

A. Griffith to design T-shirt, send us a copy by email attachment and purchase T-Shirts. LBI will supply funds. Shirts will be given to groups that actually pick up bags and safety vests. Shirts can be used in place of vests.
