Recycle Program
J.Powell said that VoTech cannot commit to doing the recycle bins. Larrance Steel said it could do a bin similar to the expanded mesh bins that we use for newspaper for approx. $3,500.00 ea. and we would require `10 to 12 of these bins. Commercial bins have dividers in them . Therefore , one bin could have 6 (or more) dividers. They make bins up to 22ft long. We are looking at 3 locations. A. Griffith suggest the City purchase 1 bin with dividers for ea. location with 1 spare and prioritize the materials we recycle. B.Hadley suggests we start with central Lawton first. C.Smith said location is crucial because of potential for trash thrown in bins. B.Hadley suggested signage/cameras to thwart dumping. C.Smith stated that Ft. Sill will continue to pick up recyclables as long as City is moving forward with their own program. R.Givens suggested we sell advertising on the bins to help fund them.R. Givens said LETA is willing to help out. (B.Pitts from Friday Morning Optimist came up after the meeting and stated other service clubs may be interested in advertising. They have already given us $1,000.00 toward the bins)
Plan is to start with one central location. J.Powell to get cost, pictures of commercial bins for next meeting so we can start looking for sources of funding.

Median Projects
Sheridan/Wal-mart median is done and paid for.  Cache/I-44 median is actually a drainage swale and original design will not work. K.Jackson did 3 different designs. G.Catlett said the cost would be about $300.00. They already have the 12 donated crepe myrtles.
Median in front of Liberty bank on Gore is a potential median for landscaping depending on traffic pattern and availability of water.
It was elected to go forward with design A for Cache/I-44
D.Jones will look into feasibility of doing this median depending on traffic flow and water availability and bring to next meeting

Underpass at Quanah Parker
B.Hadley said we are concerned with appearance of the final results. B.Hadley told Monkey Business to go ahead and make some changes for the cost of the paint which they agreed to.. J.Ard brought up concern with the peeling paint inside of the tunnel
R.Bellino to contact C.Dentler about possibility of painting inside of tunnel

Littering Campaign
R. Bellino said we need a media blitz to make people more aware of litter and no littering fine. Trash-off is in April(date not chosen yet). D.Jones suggested we put something on back of utility bill about littering. A.Griffith said we need a no littering slogan that pertains to Lawton, i.e. personalize it for Lawton.

We will run a contest for a no littering slogan that personalizes it for Lawton open to all age groups with a monetary award. This group will choose the slogan and award the prize in April .

Briefly, unfinished projects include removing outdated “No Littering “signs. PSO is willing to cut down dead limbs from City trees but we need to have them picked up. J.Powell was given job of figuring out when City could pick these limbs up and coordinate with G.Catlett and PSO
