READING AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: The minutes of March 19th, 2008 were distributed by email prior to the meeting. There being no additions or corrections the minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s Report

Primary Acct: $7,105.30. Deposits: 0, debits: 0; Median Acct: $729.13. Deposits: 0, Debits: 0. Donations of $5,000.00 from Wal-mart Sheridan and $1,000.00 from City National Bank and $500.00 from West side Wal-mart will show up in May statement

  OLD BUSINESS
 

Recycle program

Wal-mart is doing a recycling program open to the public. West side Wal-mart is looking for recycling bins to purchase. City has completed the request for proposals and there are 5 park locations that can have recycling bins. Private concerns have entered the field such as J’s Recycling.

Medians

Need signage for Sheridan/Wal-mart median and I-44/Cache road median. After discussion , it is uncertain what areas on Gore and Sheridan are amenable to constructing a landscape in the median

Underpass at Quanah Parker

D. Burk says B. Hadley approves of the changes that Monkey Business made on the murals. The mural needs graffiti protection. We have purchased the materials for graffiti protection
The tunnel at the underpass is the responsibility of the City.. It needs extensive work to rehabilitate

 

R. Bellino to contact Mike Brown who agreed to pay for the mural with his logo to obtain funds to reimburse Monkey Business. Ask Monkey Business if they will apply Graffiti coating.
C.Dentler says that they will have to schedule the repair of the tunnel

 

 

 

Trash-Off / Earth Day

Trash Off is Sat. April 19th from 9:00AM to 2:00PM at McMahon Auditorium Parking Lot.

Tree Trimming on Gore

PSO has trimmed the dead limbs from the trees from 38th st to 2nd st on Gore.

Adopt a Street

A. Griffith says T-Shirts have been purchased for active Adopt A Street groups. This should be a great promotion for the program. T-shirts are safety green and can be worn in place of safety vests.

NEW BUSINESS

     
 

LETA

Working on 2nd street area between airport and Lee Blvd. Letter was sent and acknowledgement was received from Dr. Cindy Ross asking that Cameron consider doing a study as to how the community’s appearance effects people from the perspective of locating a business in Lawton, retiring here etc. Also, start of program to acknowledge great lawns in the community.

 

 

 

 

Friends of the Trail

Bicycle Festival May 3rd at McMahon Auditorium. There will be display of antique bikes, Tour of the Wichita’s, games and refreshments.
The final plan for bike trails around and through Lawton will be presented May 8th to City Planning Commission

 

Need support for the bicycle trails/path.
