
The City
of
Solid Waste Collection crews will collect all
residential trash including unwanted debris from homes and yards such as old
washers, dryers and hot water heaters, furniture and other miscellaneous items
placed at the curb between April 3 and April 6, 2008. Limbs and brush must be tied and bundled,
weight not to exceed 75 pounds or five (5) feet in length. Residents whose
property borders an alley should take advantage of Spring Clean-up by
trimming all limbs, brush and vegetation as well as clean up all other debris
that hinders vehicular travel and or provides harborage for rodents and vermin.
1) Any item weighing more than 75 pounds
and/or longer than 5 feet in length.
2)
Items
that may be considered injurious to City employees or damaging to
City equipment due to the nature, size, or weight.
3)
Any
appliance that contains refrigerants unless the owner can provide
documentary proof that the refrigerant has been legally removed.
4)
Auto Batteries, Tires, Paints, Stains, Lacquer and Motor oil
Residents are asked to set out all their
unwanted items with their regular refuse on collection days. Those residents with street service need to
set refuse no more than four (4') feet from the curb. Those residents with alley service need to
set refuse at the normal location in the alley.
1) Tires, without rims, no larger than truck tires,
will be accepted from City residences free
of charge during the Spring Clean-up period.
2) Appliances &Refrigerators, any appliance that contains refrigerants
such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, icemakers, dehumidifiers,
heat-pump and drinking water coolers, will be accepted at the city landfill.
3) Auto Batteries, Various automotive stores will also accept
batteries such as O’Reilly Auto Parts, located at

Only Oil base and Latex paints will be
accepted at the city landfill and should be in containers labeled with the type
of paint. Stains,
Thinners or Lacquer will not be accepted.
Residents are asked to not co-mingle tires and batteries with other
trash. The Landfill is able to chip yard
debris, brush and tree limbs to give to the public, if it isn't co-mingled with
household trash.
Earth Day/ Trash-Off 2008
Additionally,
The City of Lawton will be hosting Earth Day/Trash Off on April
19th, 2008. A recycling center will be set-up in the parking lot of
the McMahon Auditorium.
The following items can be dropped off at this location between 9:00 A.M and 2:00 P.M. to be recycled:
1)
Tires, without rims, no larger than truck
