Degree Completion

This is for active military personnel - (only) - who want to apply to the military for the Degree Completion program - where Cameron becomes their assignment for 12 to 18 months while they complete their degree.

The Office of Veteran Affairs issues a Letter of Acceptance for this program only after the following steps have been completed, and your academic records show you can complete a degree within 12 to 18 months. The CU-VA office does not do any of the military paperwork to apply for this program.

  1. You MUST be fully admitted to Cameron University as a degree seeking student. For information about undergraduate admissions requirements, please see Cameron University Admissions. You MUST HAVE ALL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS on file in the Admissions Office of prior higher educational institutions you have attended.

  2. If you have had your military credit evaluated, and recorded on another institution's transcript, Cameron accepts the credits in transfer (as long as it is an accredited institution). Cameron does not reevaluate your military credit if another institution has already evaluated it and recorded it on their transcript. If you have attended additional military schools, etc. since your military credit was evaluated. You will need to identify when your credit was evaluated by the other institution and then send only documentation to evaluate your additional work (DD-214's, AARTS transcripts, etc.) to the CU-VA office accompanied by a letter explaining to our office that you are applying for degree completion. The military credit will be evaluated but will not be recorded until you become a student at Cameron University and have one paid enrollment. If you can meet eligibility requirements to apply for the degree completion program, then the military credit to be awarded once you have a paid enrollment will be included in your degree completion acceptance letter.

  3. AFTER all official transcripts are received by Cameron University ADMISSIONS, and you are fully admitted to Cameron University; THEN contact the Office of Veteran Affairs with the following information: Your Name, Social Security Number, the name of the degree you would like to have the letter of acceptance done for, if this degree has a minor (do you have a preference for a particular area), when would you like to start your degree completion program, do you have any other time constraint besides the 12 - 18 months, and where can we contact you for additional information? Include a day time phone, home phone, working email address if not within the U.S., and a full mailing address with city & state & zip code. This request needs to normally be completely done and ready five months prior to the start date of the program. The CU-VA Office requires a minimum of one month processing time for our office since we must do the work and then have the Registrar's Office confirm our evaluation before a letter of acceptance will be issued.

  4. The CU-VA has no idea if you will qualify to complete your degree within a time frame until steps #1 & 2 are satisfied. We will not work up anything in our office until steps #1 & 2 are completed. Please see the Contact VA pages on this web site for how to contact our office. Thank you!
