Clodus R. Smith's career in higher education spans almost four decades.
A Cameron alumnus, Clodus graduated with an associate's degree in agriculture from Cameron State Agriculture College in 1948 before earning a bachelor's degree in science and teaching certificate at Oklahoma State University. He later went on to earn a doctorate of education from Cornell University in 1960. During his career, Smith served as president of the Rio Grande College, Rio Grande Community College and Lake Erie College in Ohio. Smith is involved in several educational organizations. He is a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the American Vocational Association. Smith has also served on and led volunteer mission teams to Alaska, Chile and Belize. The past years have brought several honors and awards to Smith, including Cameron University Distinguished Alumni award and Who's Who in both agriculture and education. Along with his wife, Paula, also a centennial commission member, Smith created an endowed lectureship in American Indian studies at Cameron. The pair is also Century II President's Partners at CU. |
