Sid Hudson lived close to Cameron University's campus as a child. His proximity to Cameron left an indelible mark on the young Lawtonian, one that he would carry throughout his education and into the halls of the Oklahoma legislature.
Hudson graduated from Lawton High School and attended Cameron before completing his bachelor's degree at The University of Oklahoma. Hudson then returned to Cameron and completed his course work for a teaching certificate. Hudson taught at Lawton High School for several years before being elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, a move he said was spurred on by the opportunity to advance Cameron. Hudson served in the legislature from 1986 to 1992, and has since returned to education to serve as Vice Chancellor for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Hudson has received Cameron University's Distinguished Service Award and has been nominated to the Institute for Child Advocacy Hall of Fame. |
