B. Don Sullivan serves as an ex-officio member of the Centennial Commission. A native of Durant, Sullivan earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Oklahoma State University and his doctorate in higher education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Sullivan served in the Army for 24 years, retiring in 1987 as a lieutenant colonel. While in the military, he was stationed in Europe, Southwest Asia, Vietnam and Hawaii, serving as a senior level strategic planner, military educator and battalion commander. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals and the Army and Air Force Commendation Medals. Upon returning to Oklahoma, Sullivan joined LB&M Associates of Lawton, before being selected as Vice President for Development at Cameron in 1992. Previous positions include Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Texas-Permian Basin and the first Dean for Human Development at South Oklahoma City Community College. In 2001, Sullivan was appointed as Cameron's Provost. He retired in 2003 but has returned to serve as both Interim Provost and Special Assistant to the President to assist with advancing the university. Sullivan is also a community and state leader in volunteerism, economic development and leadership programs. |
