ADVANCED STANDING CREDIT CAMERON UNIVERSITY POLICY AND REGULATIONS
POLICY
Students enrolled at Cameron University may receive degree credit for post-secondary level extra-institutional learning related to subject areas, courses, and programs of study offered by Cameron University. The Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for developing and administering policies and procedures for awarding advanced standing credit. Advanced standing credit awards are made under policies and procedures designed to assure that reliable and valid measures of learning outcomes have been applied.
REGULATIONS
- A maximum of 45 semester hours of advanced standing credit may be applied toward the requirements for associate degrees. A maximum of 64 semester hours of advanced standing credit may be applied toward baccalaureate degree requirements.
- Advanced standing credit must be validated by successful completion of 12 or more semester hours at Cameron before being placed on the student's transcript. (Advanced standing credit awarded to military service personnel and their dependents will be placed on the transcript upon initial paid enrollment.)
- Advanced standing credit is identified on the transcript by the letters "A.S." following each course title.
- The "S" grade is assigned to credits earned by advanced standing.
- A score equivalent to a grade of "C" shall be used as the minimum passing score for institutionally prepared examinations.
- The Testing Director makes credit award recommendations using the appropriate guide and forwards it to the Registrar. A Cameron course prefix, number with dashes in place of the middle two digits, and a title from the guide used for evaluating the course will be assigned to a course not equivalent to a Cameron course.
- Registrar places credit on the student's transcript after 12 hours have been completed at Cameron.
