Personnel Office - What Happens After I Apply for Employment?

ADMINISTRATIVE / PROFESSIONAL OR FACULTY POSITIONS
The Personnel Office reviews application materials for thoroughness and sends correspondence to inform the applicant that the application is either complete or is lacking certain critical information for full consideration. A copy of the Notice of Vacancy is included in the correspondence for informational purposes and a "Voluntary Affirmative Action Form", which we ask that you please complete and return to the Personnel Office. The Personnel Office then prepares individual folders for each applicant's information. Upon the closing of the position, the screening and selection committee obtains the folders from the Personnel Office to commence the screening process. Upon identification of candidates that the committee has elected to interview, those candidates are notified directly by the committee. When a final selection is made by either the committee and/or the hiring entity, that candidate is contacted directly. All non-selected applicants are notified by correspondence of the selection of a candidate to fill the position.

Applications are retained on file for one year from the closing of the position; however, they are only submitted for other specific positions at the request of the applicant and if, there is actually an opening available.

 

 

CLASSIFIED POSITIONS
All applications are prescreened by the Personnel Office to insure that minimum qualifications, as detailed on the Notice of Vacancy, are met prior to transmittal to the actual hiring designee. The hiring designee will identify those candidates selected for interviews and will schedule those interviews directly with the candidate.

In addition to the checking of references, the sensitive nature of certain positions may necessitate conducting an investigative report either before or after initial employment. An "Authorization to Release Information" form is, thereby, attached for signature. All information obtained will be utilized expressly in the employment process.

Upon selection of an individual for the position for which the applicant has applied, each applicant is then notified by letter that the position has been filled.
