Parents' Corner
Parent involvement in the Open Doors Program
WE NEED YOU!!
Parents are encouraged to actively participate in Open Doors and Upward Bound Programs activities. There are many opportunities for parents to become involved:

Community Service Projects:
Students and parents has participated in the Adopt-A-Highway program for several years. Other progarms include Habitat for Humanity, Boulevard of Lights, Kid's Zone, Food Drives and many others. |

Fundraising Activities :
Program participants and parents raise money to sponsor activities, field trips, scholarships and other special programs. |
|
Chaperones:
Parents are welcome to serve as chaperones on Open Doors sponsored activities. (field trips, campus visits, cultural activities, etc.) |
|
Family Computer Nights:
Parents and students can participate in weekly, evening computer workshops covering various topics( financial aid information, college and scholarship searches, use of word processing programs, etc) |
|
Parents' Advisory Board:
Parents who have students in both the Open Doors and Upward Bound programs are asked to provide input and feedback about Open Doors services and activities. The board meets twice a year. |
- Parent Workshops:
- (College Life Fair & Career Fair)
- Parents are invited to participate in college-related workshops in the Fall. Past topics have included:
- Pre-College testing – ACT or SAT
- Financial Aid/Scholarship Information
- College Students & Credit Cards
- Alternative College Financing (Military, Athletics, etc.)
