How do I apply?
You must complete an Open Doors Program application to become a
participant in the program. Applications are available in the Open Doors Office Cameron University/North Shepler 408 or see the Talent Search/Open Doors
Counselor at your school. In addition to filling out the application, potential
program participants should provide current documentation to verify family
income. Open Doors staff members will review completed applications, enroll
students in the program and notify the student and parents upon acceptance into
Open Doors.
Print the appropriate Open Doors application and complete it carefully. Once
it is completed, please mail the application to:

Eligibility requirements
To become a participant in the Open Doors Program, students must:
Demonstrate a DESIRE and the ABILITY to complete their secondary schooling and seek further education or training beyond high school AND
Meet income requirements AND/OR
Meet first generation requirements (parents who have not graduated from college)
Tutor/Mentors
The Talent Search/Open Doors Program has a staff of 8 tutors/mentors who assist program participants with academics and personal development. The tutor/mentors are carefully screened and trained before they are allowed to interact with program participants. In addition, the tutor/mentors are required to meet GPA requirements and participate in on-going staff development training sessions to sharpen and enhance their skills. The tutors provide small group and individual tutoring sessions for the students. The Tutor Coordinator is responsible for interviewing and hiring the Talent Search/Open Doors tutor/mentors.
