Written in 1892, this delightful farce follows a variety of couples, some of whom are unfaithful, some of whom wish to be unfaithful, and some of whom merely suspect their spouses of infidelity. The players: one philandering husband; his virtuous wife who is set on revenge, a doctor determined to be her instrument of revenge, the husband's friend who is eager to trap his spouse in flagrante delicto, and a young nephew with a lady of questionable virtue to round out his education. Toss them together at 13 Rue de L'Amour where a love starved German countess is the concierge; season with a befuddled police inspector and a prickly butler, and suddenly the best laid plans for vice and sin go wonderfully astray."
