Cameron University senior Kelda Latham-Bennett has been selected to receive the $2,000 Scholarship Judges Award from Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. Latham-Bennett is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management. She is a member of CU’s Delta Mu Delta Chapter and plans to pursue a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership upon completion of the BBA.
"Being selected for the DMD Scholarship Award was the cumulative result of a lot of well-worth-it ‘blood, sweat, and tears,’” says Latham-Bennett. “I am honored to be recognized and awarded for my efforts. Being a full-time student comes with many demands, and this scholarship award has helped to reduce some of those financial stressors. In addition to reducing the financial stressors, it has allowed me to see opportunities that exist in my future."
Earlier this year, Latham-Bennett was named as one of Cameron’s Top 10 Non-Traditional Students. She was also named as one of four 2018 Outstanding Aggies of Tomorrow by the Cameron University Alumni Association and was named to Who’s Who among Cameron University Students. She is a member of the university’s Curriculum Committee and is active in the CU chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as well as the CU Accounting Club. Latham-Bennett has been inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, the national interdisciplinary honor society. She serves as a peer mentor for the CU Department of Social Sciences and is also a member of Toastmasters-Talkin’ Lawton Club.
“The faculty of the Department of Business extends its sincere congratulations to Kelda and wishes her the best of luck as she continues to prepare for the next phase of her life,” says Dr. John Courington, Chair, Department of Business. “Kelda’s academic ranking at Cameron is exemplary. She has done an outstanding job both in the classroom and in her many extracurricular activities. Kelda is very deserving of this award, which will assist her in taking another step forward in preparing for a successful and fulfilling career.”
