The Cameron University chapter of Student Veterans of America will present a reading of works written by veterans at the Lawton Veterans Center on Friday, December 8, at 9 a.m. in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex. The works were written during a 10-week creative writing workshop coordinated by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs. Cameron faculty member Jason Poudrier served as the creative writing instructor. The reading is open to the public at no charge.
“America’s veterans are a vital resource for the country’s recent military history,” says Poudrier, who is a veteran of the U.S. Army. “The stories that our Lawton veterans have written – dealing with war, family, work and friends - span nearly 90 years. The members of Cameron’s SVA chapter are honored to share these personal accounts on behalf of the veterans who chose to put country first by serving in the military.”
