Cameron University faculty member Steve Adams, along with Matt Lewis, an instructor at Great Plains Technology Center, was awarded first place for Radio Sports Reporting by the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). The award was announced at SPJ’s annual awards banquet.
Adams and Lewis picked up the top prize for their play-by-play reporting of Eisenhower High School football games.
"It's always nice to be recognized by your peers,” Adams says. “Matt and I work hard to put a good broadcast on the air."
The award marks the fourth occasion on which Adams has been recognized by SPJ and is Lewis’ first SPJ honor. Adams, an assistant professor of communication at CU, has been announcing Eisenhower football on local radio for 25 years. Lewis has been providing color commentary for nine years.
The SPJ competition recognizes work in all areas of media including radio, television, print, public relations, magazine and online.
