Cameron University student organizations request donations for hurricane relief

Three Cameron University student organizations – CU International Club, Mathcom and Sigma Tau Delta – have joined together to hold a donation drive for hurricane relief efforts. Donations will benefit the islands of Puerto Rico and Dominica, which were devastated by Hurricane Maria. The groups have placed donation drop-off boxes in the lobby of the McMahon Centennial Complex, the north lobby of Nance Boyer, and the lobby of Ross Hall.  Items collected will be sent to Dominica via the Houston Caribbean Association; donation boxes will be available through Thursday, October 5. Monetary donations to benefit Puerto Rico can be made online via United for Puerto Rico at http://unidosporpuertorico.com/en and the Miami Foundation at http://miamifoundation.org/relief. Both sites will link to a secure donation portal.

Requested items include:

  • Canned non-perishable food
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Medical supplies
  • Baby and adult diapers
  • Feminine care products
  • Bedding
  • Hammers and nails
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Water purification kits
