Cameron University’s 30th Annual Beef Cattle Improvement Conference to focus on “Beef Industry Trends: Matching Cattle to Forage Resources”

Cameron University will present its 30th Annual Beef Cattle Improvement Conference on Thursday, November 16, featuring keynote speaker Dr. David Lalman, Professor and Extension Beef Cattle Specialist in the Department of Animal Science at Oklahoma State University. An expert in cow/calf and stocker cattle nutrition and management, Lalman will speak on “Beef Industry Trends: Matching Cattle to Forage Resources.” The conference will start at 6 p.m. in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex and includes a meal by Suzie-Q’s of Marlow. There is no charge to attend.

David LalmanLalman will share his knowledge of increasing profitability and reducing cost of production through improved forage utilization, better matching beef cattle genetics to forage resources and evaluating beef production systems and alternatives.

“Beef cattle ranchers are significantly impacted by rising costs, so increasing profitability is vital to the health of the industry,” says Dr. Terry Conley, Chair, CU Department of Agriculture, Biology and Health Sciences. “Dr. Lalman’s expertise on this topic should be of great interest to beef cattle producers across the state.”
